Eichardt's Private Hotel, in Queenstown, has been hailed alongside the Ritz of London as one of the world's best hotels by a British travel bible.
Wealthy women's magazine Tatler featured the historic boutique hotel for the first time in the "Top 8 Forever Fabulous" category of the Tatler Travel Guide 2012 this month.
Eichardt's Private Hotel general manager Chris McIntosh said in a statement he and his management team were "delighted to have won such a prestigious accolade from a magazine known for the high expectations of its loyal readership, as we...

BLENHEIM, Marlborough Wine Region
A visit to the Dr’s has never felt better! Dr’s John and Brigid Forrest own Forrest Estate Wines in the heart of the world famous Sauvignon Blanc capital – The Marlborough Wine Region. While on tour of New Zealand, I joined John Forrest at his Estate for a private behind the scenes walk of the vineyard and winery and learnt why the Marlborough area produces such great quality wines. We discovered the barrel room with its amazing pungent smells of oak barrels, and John’s passion for wine and his love of experimenting with...

Earlier this week I travelled from Los Angeles to Auckland and then onto Christchurch New Zealand; flying with Air New Zealand, our national carrier is an experience that aways leaves me proud to be a Kiwi!
The Koru Lounge is very peaceful and spacious with a good selection of New Zealand wine and the ability to have a light meal, should you need it before boarding. One of Air New Zealand's newer features of flying is a Concierge team member, who personally walks through the Lounge prior to boarding to meet and greet passengers and assist them with any questions they may have....

New Zealand has been named in the top twenty of the Best of the World 2012 - Top Travel Destinations for 2012, the only country in the South Pacific to make the list!
From National Geographic Traveller Magazine Online:
A violent struggle created this world, according to Maori mythology: Indigenous New Zealanders say Sky Father and Earth Mother were ripped from each other’s arms to make room for mountains, forests, and oceans. Around Rotorua, a Maori heartland and home of the mineral-rimmed Champagne Pool (above), it’s easy to believe the struggle continues, as the eerie...

On a fabulous warm Darwin morning I was up bright and early to board the Oceanic Discoverer and begin my 11-night expedition cruise Across the Top of Australia.
Boarding the ship, and saying farewell to Darwin I had the morning to unpack, settle in and explore the OD. This 36-stateroom expedition cruise ship is outstanding and has all the facilities that one needs to make a trip to remember including lecturer theatre, library, fabulous sundecks & spa. However, the feature of the ship that truly blows me away is the Xplorer. This expedition tender that can accommodate...

The team at UPJ took an office field trip this week to explore the newly opened city centre of Cashel Mall. Fantastic! It is so good to see the central part of our city re-open. The area is now home to some 27 stores, housed in newly converted shipping containers. Shops include high fashion, a grocer, coffee shops and banking.
A long standing member of Cashel Mall is the beloved Department Store Ballantynes, or Ballies as the locals fondly refer to it. Having taken the time to re-vamp, it is now re-opened for all to enjoy and is looking amazing! The entire area has a positive and vibrant...

Known for its amazing Sauvignon Blanc wines, fresh produce, great hospitality and outdoor activities, the Marlborough Sounds is an amazing playground for boating, fishing, sailing and kayaking.
In the heart of the Kenepuru Sound, is Raetihi; a four star 14 bedroom hotel, which has recently undergone refurbishment for the upcoming summer season. I have just returned from the best experience there; the chef provided meals of a world class standard, the wine list showcased beautiful local wines and the snapper fishing was amazing! The hotel manager James took me on a tour of the...

I've just spent the past weekend discovering Nelson and the Yonder Star; an 87 foot super yacht based in Nelson and ideally located for exploring Abel Tasman and the D'Urville Island area.
Yonder Star is elegantly appointed but not pompous, boasting a polished mahogany interior. The master suite features a well equipped library, spacious ensuite and linens of the highest standard. The onboard chef and dining facilities provided us with a sumptuous meal, cooked from local produce and matched with regional wines.
Yonder Star has three ensuite cabins; cruising on Yonder Star...

I just wanted to share with you all that I'm going to be the Tour Director for the upcoming Papua New Guinea Expedition that Stanford Alumni Association are offering in Spring of 2012.
Apart from the honor of working alongside the fantastic people at Stanford, a trip to Papua New Guinea is always cause for celebration.
PNG is an unparalleled experience. Imagine spectacular and untainted coral reefs, lush tropical rainforests and a rich and diverse indigenous culture. Few destinations as unspoiled as Papua New Guinea making travel here rewarding, however it's often not...
